Fusako Sano is a Japanese woman who gained international attention in 2000 after being found alive in a small, locked room in her family's apartment in Japan. She had been missing for 9 years and was believed to have been kidnapped and held captive.
Sano's disappearance and subsequent discovery shocked the nation and brought attention to the issue of kidnapping and abuse in Japan. She was eventually reunited with her family and went on to write a book about her experience titled "Nowhere to Belong: The Sano Diaries".
Despite the trauma she endured, Sano has since tried to move on from her ordeal and has become an advocate for victims of abuse and kidnapping. Her story continues to be a source of inspiration for many people in Japan and around the world.
